Curtis McDaniel (born January 17, 1952) is a U.S. politician from the state of Oklahoma. McDaniel currently serves in the Oklahoma House of Representatives on behalf of District 1, which encompasses McCurtain County and the southern portion of LeFlore County. On April 11, 2014, he filed to run for an Oklahoma Senate seat vacated by Jerry Ellis.〔(2014 Candidate filings ), (Oklahoma State Election Board ) accessed April 11, 2014.〕 He was defeated by Republican candidate Joseph Silk.〔(Oklahoma Election Results ), (Oklahoma Election Board ), 2014.〕 ==Early life and career== Curtis McDaniel was born on January 17, 1952, in Hugo, Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural education in 1975 from Oklahoma State University and a master's degree in public administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1998.〔(Biography of Curtis McDaniel ), (Project Vote Smart ).
